A Personal Philosophy Of A Worldview - 1002 Words

A worldview is a personal philosophy of how one perceives the world. An individual’s worldview is deeply embedded in their subconscious and, unless reflected upon, is difficult to intellectualize (Sire, n.d.). This philosophy is developed from early childhood and undergoes continual transformation as one matures. Worldviews are a matter of spiritual orientation, rather than a matter of the mind alone (Sire, n.d.). It is important to understand one’s worldview, because it is the source from which all thoughts and actions are derived. Reflecting on our own worldviews will help to reduce personal bias that can influence our interpersonal relations and will, in turn, foster respect for the worldviews of those we interact with. Meaning of Spirituality Spirituality is a diverse, generalized term used to describe a set of beliefs, or truth, that a person holds deep within themselves. Thus, spirituality means different things to different people. There are multiple philosophical ideals regarding spirituality, such as pluralism, scientism, which is a principle of modernism, and postmodernism. Pluralism signifies that there is more than one view regarding a given subject, such as culture or religion. Whereas, scientism stands to reason that knowledge comes only from science. This philosophy suggests that science dictates reality. If something is scientifically unknown, then it is synonymous with failing to be true. Conversely, postmodernism is a decidedly non-Christian philosophy thatShow MoreRelatedPersonal Worldview Part 1 - My Philosophy2203 Words   |  9 PagesPersonal Worldview Part 1 – My Philosophy I. Robotic Total Station and Their Use in Design and Construction

Question: How to Use Robotic Total Station and Their In Design and Construction? Answer: Introduction Since the cases of the Latham report in 1994 there needs to lessen the estimation of change, mainly by method for going over more prominent proficient techniques for purchasing things completed. Clearly, there will reliably be the individuals who stick unyieldingly to the decide that 'the old ways are the uncommon', yet there are different more who are additional liberal no longer least as far as making utilization of most recent advances. Having expressed that, there's one exact advancement that has no longer yet been gotten a handle, regardless of the vital monetary and time endowments that have been demonstrated on various events inside the USA and particular countries - the utilization of Robotic Total Stations (RTSs) for laying out developing organizations as a differentiating alternative to the customary 'measuring tape, soul degree and the odolite' strategy. This article considers the restrictions of traditional methods and clears up how RTS advancement can crush them. It in like manner researches a bit of the intentions that this advancement has not yet been generally grasped inside the UK. Background Three-dimensional (3D) appearing and portrayal of impermanent site work environments is instrumental in revealing capacity space conflicts and refining time and cost gages. This examination focuses on use of photo based absolutely 3D showing in a term subordinate, capably advancing setting. We exhort a fiscally canny showing system to get dynamic estimation estimations of a moving article. The technique coming to fruition as a result of planning picture based absolutely 3-d exhibiting and mechanical blend station taking after advances better mulls over the product needs of discernment and estimation in change which are essential to operational assurance and helper precision. The computational built up request of photogrammetric is initial kept an eye on then the indicating method and the system design delineated. Information By and large, the format of building organizations on area has secured a set running from the developing drawings, using a measuring tape, soul stage and the odolite to comprehend association centers for pipe work, hyperlink plate et cetera. Shockingly, this structure would not work predominantly well with confounded frameworks, frameworks with twisted dividers, structures with pre-collected materials, BIM or non-orthogonal ranges. Truth be educated there is an enormous territory for misstep, coming around because of the going with issues: Ensuring the reference component is right. Guaranteeing the measuring tape does not stream. Guaranteeing the string doesn't continue forward round sections. Ensuring the the odolite is level. Guaranteeing the degree in which you are measuring is precise. Every little foul up can actuate possibly true impacts. For instance, being different stages out on an edge can imply that pre-fabricated structures don't sound when the time comes to present them. So additionally, incorrect format can bring about clashes with other building added substances or organizations, consequently traumatic the change arrange, creating recuperation works and misusing substances, time and money. Despite while the aggregate goes effortlessly, the conventional strategy is hard and repetitive and any delays can affect the work of different organizations. At the variable while changes should be made, procedures for recording reasons (obstacle et cetera.) and confirmation (photographs et cetera.) are recorded moreover to any drawings they're working from. These thought processes are in a few occasions offered an explanation to the arrangement organization (if there's one) to precise the drawings or model; at extraordinary conditions, those records are archived autonomously for the inspirations driving accuse managing at a later date. Regardless, it units aside a long while for this data to be reflected in the arrangements, if by any extend of the creative energy, which implies exceptional authoritative representatives or work powers won't see the movements until they're revived. Working from paper furthermore has the potential for disaster or harm Surveying Robotic Total Stations (RTS) enable plan to be finished by methods for best one character, rather than the phenomenal design establishment. To start improvement design, a pill with programming controls the RTS and is stacked with a 2D drawing or three-D building variant. Webpage survey centers from the calling website are analyzed inside the model and are used to find the RTS at the task site and inside the model. Once the RTS is resolved, the character working the RTS can see the model at the tablet PC and select the concentrations to be stamped. Once picked, the RTS will educate the head their particular detachment from the point (if using a stake) and in a while control the buyer to the point with orientation appearing forward/in inverse or left/right improvement. The head then stakes the investigation and moves to the accompanying one. An additional advanced RTS highlight is Visual Layout which indicates the design point with a laser (ousting the prerequisite for the stake); the executive then essentially needs to take after the laser to each point and stamp the district. In a general sense, the RTS does the greater part of the sketches while the director takes after its laser, signifying each demonstrate inside a partition of millimeters from the 2D/3-d show figure. This can be connected for the correct arranging of various trades inside the interceding time, guaranteeing no delays on region. Upgraded adequacy: RTSs use the equivalent 2D drawings or 3-D building models as elite trades required inside the endeavor, so joint exertion is less confused and snappier. Redesigned accuracy: Layout bearings might be gotten to clearly from the building model and changes to configuration positions might be recorded at the period of format and documented with reasons and pictures. Less stumbles: The RTS works clearly from the building variant. There is no guide measuring organization secured. Centers to be stamped are to an extraordinary certificate particular and their inspiration is referenced to the director by method for their pill machine. Diminished written word: Using the RTS on an occupation is a paperless system, which means there's no danger of losing reports or spilling espresso on them. Diminished works of art expenses: The RTS just longings one individual to artworks it and that one character is besides arranged for expanding design benefit through up to 5 times. Improved extraordinary oversee: RTSs might be connected as a confounded mechanical assembly in a QA/QC get ready, both pre-and post-foundation. Conclusion Realizing RTS advancement requires capital undertaking and a lot of associations feel that considering that they don't have committed outline associations they may not see a respectable salary for their theory. In any case, the relative ease of RTS development infers that any individual from the MEP association can whole particular outlines, so the legally binding specialist can enhance usage of the gathering of laborers. In like manner, RTS takes out guide botches all together that the most extreme genuinely capable and astounding sorted out individuals can be apportioned to the more prominent precarious assignments, while cut down skilled retailers do the laying out. What's more noteworthy there are stunning time venture value go that may at last decrease the amount of dealers required on the test, thusly lessening artistic creations costs. In a module gathering terrace, a gear system being lifted through a flexible crane changed into recognized as the moving thing. The length and the period alterations of twelve slings on a recently outlined gear structure at various states were measured holding at the top of the priority list the surrender expectation to ensure extraordinary and insurance. The proposed machine depends upon on utilizing programmed mix stations and 3 cameras and offers a true, covered and a hit respond in due order regarding screen the dimensional changes of a concise office inside the change teach. Ordinary Research Paper Essay Example

Ordinary Research Paper Essay It certainly seems unfair that WNBA MVP Lauren Jackson, highest paid WNBA player, can make a maximum of $87,000 per year, while perennial NBA disappointment Shawn Bradley is guaranteed a minimum of $1,100,000. Many people believe it isn’t fair that males playing basketball should receive higher pay than the females playing basketball at the professional level. In the USA, employees completing the same job are supposed to have equal pay because the USA is based on gender equality. NBA players are among the highest paid employees on the planet, while WNBA players are earning an average between $46,000 to $60,000 a year. Even though the WNBA has only recently been established, the NBA receives more attention than the WNBA in several different ways. The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) will hopefully grow in the next few years (Issaquah Par. 1-3). The National Basketball Association created the Women’s National Basketball Association. The idea behind the WNBA began in 1996 when the Olympics were held in the United States. The United States Women’s Basketball Team traveled across America meeting fans. The women’s team won the gold medal in the Olympics held in Atlanta, Georgia. The American people wanted to see these new basketball stars play in there own league in the United States. The NBA decided to start WNBA teams in the cities that already possessed NBA teams. The women would play while the men were on summer vacation (Owens 6). The WNBA began in 1996 and originated with eight teams. One of the first teams in the league was the Los Angeles Sparks. They had Lisa Leslie on their team, who was famous before the Women’s National Basketball Association. She was one of the best United States basketball players. The other WNBA teams formed to start the season in 1997 were the Phoenix Mercury, Utah Starzz, Sacramento Monarchs, Cleveland Rockers, New York Liberty, Houston Comets, Miami Sol, and the Portland Fire (The Associated Press 1-14). There are now 14 teams total in the WNBA. As of 2008, the teams consisted of the Detroit Shock, Los Angeles Sparks, Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun, Houston Comets, Indiana Fever, Minnesota Lynx, New York Liberty, Sacramento Monarchs, Phoenix Mercury, San Antonio Silver Stars, Seattle Storm, Washington Mystics, and, the newest team joining the WNBA, is the Atlanta Dream. The WNBA is split into two conferences the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. Each conference consists of 7 teams. Teams in the Eastern Conference are the Atlanta Dream, Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun, Detroit Shock, Indiana Fever, New York Liberty, and Washington Mystics. The Western Conference is made up of Houston Comets, Los Angeles Sparks, Minnesota Lynx, Phoenix Mercury, Sacramento Monarchs, San Antonio Silver Stars and the Seattle Storm. Having conferences helps decided the top teams in the WNBA (WNBA Enterprises 1-10). The Women’s National Basketball Association began with eight teams in 1997 and expanded to 16 teams in 2002; three franchises folded by the start of the 2004 season. Cleveland, Miami, and Portland no longer exist as WNBA teams. In 2003, the Utah Starzz moved to San Antonio to become the Silver Stars. Chicago became a team in 2006 (The Associated Press 1-14). The Women’s National Basketball Association will tip off its 12 season of play on Saturday, May 17. Twelve of the 14 teams will play on the opening day (WNBA Enterprises Par. 1). The WNBA has established itself since 1996 and with its first season in 1997. There are now higher salaries; the league minimum was $5000 in 1997. Now, everyone in the WNBA makes at least five figures. No one has yet brought home a million dollars. There is a feeling that this milestone is not too far away. There has been a vast move forward in salaries since the league started in 1996 (Harris Par. 2). There are now better players in the WNBA. They began with two of the best women’s basketball players and now have many. When the league started, they suspected that Rebecca Lobo and Lisa Leslie were the best that women’s basketball had to offer. Now there are players like Sacramento ’s Yolanda Griffith, Los Angeles ’ Tameka Dixon, and Houston ’s Tina Thompson who have proven to be forces with which to contend. These players have rallied fans and money with out the help of the WNBA’s marketing machine (Harris Par. 3). National broadcasts air more of the WNBA games on TV now. When previously viewing the broadcast schedule, it seemed as if the league had pre-selected a national champion. The favorite seemed to receive more televised games (Harris Par. 4). In 2008, the WNBA and ESPN announced an eight-year suspension. The suspension was an agreement to have ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 televise WNBA games through 2016. This agreement was reached in a year when the increased attendance to games, enhanced TV viewership, and the number of people visiting WNBA. com rose as well. The agreement guarantees increased promotion of the WNBA on ESPN and will run through the 20 season of the WNBA (WNBA Enterprises Par. 2). Now, today teams that were not in the original line up that created the WNBA are receiving broadcasting time on television (Harris Par. 4). The WNBA has made greater strides over the years. The rivalries are more intense between fans cheering and booing for the team they want to win. There were amazing turnarounds in teams. Teams known as the worst in the WNBA one year made it to the conference finals the next. In every way, the Women’s National Basketball Association is taking steps. However, the WNBA is still not as respected as the NBA. Hopefully, the WNBA still possesses years to expand and make something more of themselves (Harris Par. 1-5). There are requirements that need to be met in order to become a member of the WNBA just like any other job. Females are not allowed to go directly from high school to the WNBA. To be a prospect for the WNBA, females must be at least 22 years old during the calendar year of the season to be played. A female must complete her intercollegiate basketball eligibility, graduate from a four year college or university or play at least two seasons for another professional basketball league. People may believe simply being good at basketball will help get a jersey and a spot to be on a team. However there are requirements to be met (WNBA Media Ventures Par. 1). After meeting the requirements to get drafted to the WNBA, there are different skills in which scouts are interested. The position played, whether it be guard, post, or forward, depends on scouts. Different positions have different skills that need to be mastered. Some things remain the same no matter what position being played. Scouts look at athleticism, knowledge of the game, execution of the plays and sets, work ethic, and poise under pressure. One shouldn’t simply focus on the way they play, but work on other things to help improve there game, too (WNBA Media Ventures Par. 2). It is hard to be recognized in the WNBA. Going to a small school, can mean it is difficult to know how to expose oneself or get invited to the draft camp. Making a high light tape is a good step to get recognized. A prospective player should send the video or film to current teams and the national office. Including a resume is a good idea in order to show stats and achievements. With respect to all divisions of colleges, coaches evaluate players from all conferences and divisions. By reading basketball publications, newspaper articles, updates, watching videotapes, and attending games, they develop background information on various players (WNBA Media Ventures Par. 3). Not everyone gets invited to the WNBA draft camp. To be considered females must meet WNBA requirements. Also the national office must have current game footage and a resume on file. Then, the player will be evaluated. That is how the WNBA determines if players have the skills and ability to play at the next level. It is the WNBA’s best intention to find the best players in the nation to compete at the next level (WNBA Media Ventures Par. 3). The number of draft picks changes depending on the amount of players needed on a team that year. Much depends on how many retire from the WNBA. If there are good players eligible for the WNBA one year and not the next, that also has an effect on how many players the WNBA teams will draft. If there are better players one year that can make it in the WNBA then the WNBA would draft them over someone who can’t. The highest number of draft picks ever in the WNBA was in 2001 and 2002. Sixty four players were drafted. The first round, second draft pick in 2002 plays for the Detroit Shock and is still there today. The lowest number of draft picks since the WNBA started in 1997 was 38 picks in the year of 2004. The first two picks in 2004 are powerhouses in the WNBA still playing strong. Diana Taurasi, who was drafted first in 2004, just won the national championship in 2007. Therefore, the demand for necessary players as well as how the collegiate players performance determines the number of draft picks (Insidehoops. com Par. 1-7). After getting drafted the WNBA has to decide how much money each player will get paid. The salary cap for the WNBA is going up every year but is still not even close to the NBA salary cap. The WNBA team salary cap in 2004 was $647,000, increasing every year in 2005 the cap was at $673,000, in 2006 it increased to $700,000, then in 2007 was up to $728,000 per team. The salary has been making a steady climb up but still has a ways to go to be close to the NBA (Insidehoops. com Par. 4). With the highest team salary in the NBA is $103,100,000 and the lowest team salary is $23,000,000 a year (Insisdehoops. om Par. 14). With 14 teams in the WNBA by adding up all their team salaries it doesn’t even add up to the minimum NBA team salary cap (Insidehoops. com Par. 4). The average salary of an NBA player making $3. 7 million the average salary for a WNBA player is only $50,000 (BlackAthlete Sports Network Par. 6). The maximum pay for players in the WNBA and NBA are not even close. The m aximum salary of a WNBA is $87,000 (Insidehoops. com Par. 3). While the highest paid NBA player is making 22 million dollars (Insidehoops. com Par. 5). The minimum WNBA salary for players of 0-3 years of experience is $30,600. Players with four or more years of experience make an average of $43,700. If on the team that wins the WNBA championship each player receives a bonus of $10,000 each. The runner-up team each player gets a $5,000 bonus. There is a very big difference in pay that the WNBA players and the pay that the NBA players receive (Insidehoops. com Par. 3). Some women in the WNBA have to get another job besides just playing basketball because they are not brining in enough money. Katie Smith is the all-time leading scorer in women’s professional basketball, a two-time Olympic gold medallist, and a four time WNBA all-star. If Katie were a man in the NBA she would never have to work another day in her life but being in the WNBA and not making enough money she decided to go to dental school. Smith being one of the best players in the WNBA is making nearly $90,000 which is a good amount of money but no matter how long or well you play basketball will not pay for your future. Only a few WNBA players have endorsement deals, while others have to get a job in the off-season or they go and play over seas to bring in extra income (BlackAthlete Sports Network Par. -9). The reason the pay could be so different in the WNBA and NBA could depend on the game schedules, price of tickets or game attendance. Comparing the Detroit Pistons an NBA team to the Detroit Shock an WNBA. Their 2007-2008 seasons differ very much. The Shock only has one preseason game (WNBA Enterprises Par. 1). While the Pistons compete in six preseason games. The Pistons season not including the play offs stretches from October 8 2007 through Apr il 16 2008. During that time the Pistons compete in 90 games (NBA Enterprises Par. 1). The Shock season runs from May 12 2008 through September 14 2008 not including play offs. Throughout this time the Shock will perform in 35 games (WNBA Enterprises Par. 1). The NBA has an average of 17,000 people attend their games and the WNBA only bring in about 10,000. Another reason the pay could be so different is because on average the ticket price to go to an NBA game is $45 and to a WNBA it is only $15. The NBA tends to have more games and longer seasons but one day the WNBA may be equal to the NBA (Issaquah Par. 4). â€Å"Its official the WNBA established itself as a real, professional, respectable sport. We’ve still got a ways to go, but the league’s progress since the 1997 inaugural season has been nothing short of a remarkable† (Harris Par. 1). The WNBA has gained teams and publicity over the years (WNBA Enterprises Par. 1-10). With the league going in a positive direction the salaries are also increasing (WNBA Enterprises Par. 1-4). Ordinary Research Paper Essay Example Ordinary Research Paper Essay It certainly seems unfair that WNBA MVP Lauren Jackson, highest paid WNBA player, can make a maximum of $87,000 per year, while perennial NBA disappointment Shawn Bradley is guaranteed a minimum of $1,100,000. 1-4). Even though the WNBA has only recently been established, the NBA receives more attention than the WNBA in several different ways. The WNBA will hopefully keep growing and become as established as the NBA someday. Works Cited â€Å"Atlanta Becomes 14th WNBA Franchise In League. † The Associated Press. 2007: 20 Feb. 2008 . new declaration oof independece essays

new declaration oof independece essays Each year, deluging masses of populace from foreign nations flock to America. Here, they believe they will receive the chance to embrace, savor, and exercise true "Freedom". Surely, this land of wondrous opportunities would encompass them in her fruitful prosperity! But is it really a land liberated from the fetters of suppression? Are Americans as tolerant and pleasantly liberal as perceived to be? If not, then a formidable and hefty query arises: What is an American? A liberated America's building blocks are the elixirs of Equality, Freedom, and democracy. What, then, would undermine the basic structures of America more than racism? Yet, try as we might, we cannot utterly annihilate the lurking plague of racism. It persistently resurfaces and hoists up its sordid visage. It is enough to make one contemplate upon the apparently indubitable democratic core of the Americans comprising of this "enlightened" democratic nation. Some Americans, however, do at least occasionally try to conceal biases through thinly gilded veneers of false enthusiasm. This, of course, is not to say that all Americans exhibit partialities- merely that those who do demonstrate a high capacity for concealment. On a more comical note, Americans are stereotypically depicted as obnoxiously crass and stentorian by the "cultured" European countries such as the wine- drinking French. Americans may appear to seem "loud" when advocating causes and obligations thought to be ethically seemly. We become active and operative when championing for a motive. But often, Americans are vocal in general, and quite argumentative in nature. Americans, raised with society's supposedly intense notions of Freedom, Liberty, and Justice abstractly as fundamental standards for sustenance, will not stand for a silencing of their sentiments and expressions. Americans are renowned for their outspoken, articulate, and often "too- liberal" mannerism. It is also stated that we are "bras ...

Purchasing power parity, theory of exchange rate determination. The WritePass Journal

Purchasing power parity, theory of exchange rate determination. INTRODUCTION: Purchasing power parity, theory of exchange rate determination. INTRODUCTION:SECTION 1: UNDERSTANDING PURCHASING POWER PARITYWHAT IS PPP?LAW OF ONE PRICE:Related INTRODUCTION: The objective of this paper is to better understand one of the key concepts of real exchange rate determination and building blocks of macroeconomic model, ppp. The main reason to focus on this topic is due to the fact that most of the large companies are working beyond the national boundaries and are trying to expand their business at international levels, so it becomes vital for managers and investors while making international investment decisions to gauge the impact of fluctuation of consumer goods prices, tradable and non-tradable goods could have on the profitability of their businesses.Although the term â€Å"purchasing power parity† was coined as recently as 80 years ago (Cassel, 1918), it has much longer history in economics[1].PPP is generally attributed to Gustav Cassel’s writings in the 1920s, although its intellectual origins date back to the writings of the nineteenth-century British economist â€Å"David Ricardo†. Probably, it is the oldest theory of exchange rate determination. In section 1 of this paper, I will define the concept of ppp, discuss the theory behind it, and elaborate its practical implications in real world development. The section 2 will clarifies the nuances between absolute ppp and relative ppp and tests of the validity of the ppp theory over the time period. The section 3 elaborates Why is more preferable to say that ppp holds in the long run than in the short run. The section 4 explains why ppp does not hold in the short run, what are the economic factors lies behind it in deviating ppp from actual exchange rate.  Ã‚  Ã‚   It distinguishes between those factors which would prevent absolute ppp from holding, but would not necessarily prevent relative ppp from holding, and those which clearly prevent relative ppp too. It also explains those factors which would lead to ppp failing in the long run. In section 5, there are concluding remarks. SECTION 1: UNDERSTANDING PURCHASING POWER PARITY In thissection, I will define purchasing power parity by using the examples to elaborate how it works in the real world and discuss it how it relates to real exchange rates. WHAT IS PPP? The purchasing power parity exchange rate is the exchange rate between two currencies’ that would equate the two relevant national price levels if expressed in common currency at that rate, so that ppp of a unit of one currency would be the same in both countries. The basic concept underlying ppp theory is that arbitrage forces will lead to the equalization of goods prices internationally, once the prices of goods are measured in same currency. As such theory represents an application of the ‘law of one price’[2]. LAW OF ONE PRICE: The fundamental idea behind this theory is the law of one price.LOP[3] refers to identical products which are sold in different markets will sell in the same prices when expressed in terms of a common currency in the presence of competitive market structure and absence of transportation costs and other barriers to trade. Thus, it provides a framework to relate currency in one market (the domestic market) to currency in another market (foreign market). In algebraic form, LOP posits that for any good I: p

The Hairy Ape Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

The Hairy Ape - Essay Example Yank grew up in an impoverished lower class family. From his accounts, he had a painful childhood. His parents would make him attend church every Sunday though. His father, working at the shore, was abusive. He grew up seeing his parents fight regularly that when his mother died from alcohol withdrawal relapse, he left home to evade the punishment he suffered. Due to lack of education, he is trapped in a social system amid the rising industrial revolution that he had to toil hard as a fireman/stoker in the transatlantic ocean liner for a measly wage. But he feels himself to be superior to others and confident due to his strength and his view that his effort makes the ship run. He defends the ship as his home. Yank met Mildred when she visited the ship’s boiler room while docked in Lisbon. The brute and hairy appearance of Yank disgusted Mildred and called him â€Å"hairy ape.† Yank is enraged when Mildred was frightened and disgusted of him. He realized that his physique to which he is boastful is loathed by others. Overcome by confusion, he struggles to find answers. He was traumatized and searched for his identity and belongingness. Yank became aware of the differences in the social class with Mildred’s reaction. His desire to get revenge with Mildred spread to the steel industry (owned by Mildred’s father) and the whole bourgeois class. When he said that others do not belong in society, he is actually expressing his own alienation. He feels strong when he â€Å"belongs.† Thus, when Mildred, the other ship workers and people on 5th Ave. rejected him, he felt weakness. On the larger analysis, Yank wants to redefine the social structure and belongingness in society. He â€Å"belongs† to the ship being useful to it just as the ship workers who run the ship. Meeting Mildred presented to him a new reality that he cannot seem to fathom and belong. After a series of rejection, he sought out where he belongs. I prefer to watch or listen to drama or fiction that
